Tribal Consumer Protection Bureau Notice of Proposed Rulemaking

The Tribal Consumer Protection Bureau (TCPB) has written new rules to help the lending industry for the Chippewa Cree Tribe. In order to provide these new rules, TCPB is required to make their best efforts to make sure all tribal members are able to review them and provide comment. You can view them here.

 
Under section 10-4-110 of the Chippewa Cree Tribal Codes, the Commissioner of the Tribal Consumer Protection Bureau (“TCPB”) is authorized to draft new regulations which supplement the current lending industry rules for the Chippewa Cree Tribe.
 
The publication of this notice on June 4, 2018 begins a sixty day public hearing and comment period. During the next sixty days, anyone with an interest in the below regulations can submit a written comment offering feedback on the regulations. On August 2, 2018 a public hearing will be head at the Rocky Boys Reservation at 11:00 AM (?) to 12:30 PM (?). At the meeting, any individual affected by any proposed regulations may attend and submit oral or written feedback to be considered by the TCPB and Commissioner Fulkerson.
 
The goal of the Public Hearing is to allow any affected individual to share their position on a proposed regulation. However, at the discretion of the commissioner, an individual’s time to provide oral feedback may be limited.
